There are two versions of Anthem - it was remixed (by Phil, I think) in 1971, so your LP might be of the remix (and probably has other differences as well).
The original mix is the one that's most common on CDs.
(Aoxomoxoa is the reverse - the original mix is out of print indefinitely & Jerry's '71 remix was the one used for CDs.)

There's also another Born Cross-eyed, the single release which has live feedback spliced onto the end.

So the fade was on the original ! I can see why Phil did what he did, from a musical point of view , like it better, but I grew up with that version .
I like some stuff from the orginal AOX ( What's become...), ad like some of the remixed tracks ( like the more "chaste" Mts of the Moon .) .
